Smile 2 was frustrating

I can't say i loved the first one but it had a good performance from the lead actress and a good, impactful ending. Couldn't say the rest of the film was bad it was just not very memorable outside of the ending. As for smile 2, i expected a full on popcorn horror flick, and it was that, although not in a very entertaining way? Like, okay i get it, we've got jokes now, some of them made me smile, too. But the threat of the entity was barely present, it felt like a cringe comedy with occasional gore shots mixed in.

My main dissapointment was the main character, Skye. Really interesting perspective with the mc being a celebrity and my god, did Naomi Scott tried her best. But there's only so much you can do with half of your dialogue is the word "fuck". I have no issues with her being flawed, and i suppose i'd be swearing like a sailor if i was in her position but it's just not entertaining to hear the swear words over and over.

Although there were some positives i suppose. The car scene was the highlight and Naomi simply nailed it with her desperate screaming, some of the songs sounded like a legit pop stuff you can hear on the radio, Naomi Scott is hot (sorry but yeah i said it).

But i guess there's just no potential for a franchise or a sequel. It's all "i'm going crazy and no one believes me", the most annoying horror trope is the basis for the concept. And smiling people are just not scary.
