Just finished Donnie Darko.....

I have a few questions after watching the film:

  • If Donnie Darko’s death is essential for averting the catastrophic unravelling of reality, why does Frank intervene to save him initially? Is there not an inherent contradiction in preserving his life if his ultimate sacrifice is crucial for correcting the course of events? Shouldn’t Donnie have faced his fate at the very beginning of the story to ensure the universe’s stability?
  • Why did Dr. Thurman contact the Darko residence on the day of death or the final judgment date, and what is the significance of this timing in relation to the film’s narrative and themes?
  • Do the Smurfs really exclude Papa Smurf from their interactions with Smurfette? Lol
