Making older grips more tacky/grippy
Hey all- I’ve got a ‘21 Tracer 9GT with heated grips that are fantastic. At level 10 they’re too hot. They’re controlled via the selector wheel on the right handlebar and the heat level is displayed right on the dash. My issue is that the grips themselves have become fairly smooth and have lost their tackiness-so much so that I really have to grip the throttle pretty hard to hold the throttle open when the road gets bumpy. It’s not a huge deal but it’s an annoyance.
The replacement grips, which have the heating elements integrated (no way to JUST replace the rubber) is over $200. Not worth it IMO, and I do not want to go aftermarket because I like the ecu integration of the OEM grips.
Wondering if y’all have any tips on how to make rubber grips a little more tacky. I’ve tried the old school method of wiping them down with olive oil, and while that works surprisingly well, it doesn’t last long.
Cheers!
