Smurfing is currently a huge issue

In order to avoid people saying "get out of silver lil bro and you wont meet that many smurfs", let me preface this post by saying i was eternity last season. This season i didnt get to play much due to irl stuff, i was only able to play today. Started from plat 1 and im currently diamond 1, about to get gm soon (12 games so far, 11 W 1 L). So i'm not necessarily a victim of smurfing itself, there are smurfs in eternity sure but they're not as prevalent and often in lower elos

If you dont know what smurfing is, smurfing is when a higher elo player uses a low elo account to stomp on lower elo players. For example if Bob is eternity on his main account, he makes a new account (which afaik starts from bronze), he then plays on bronze lobby as an eternity player which obviously means he's going to stomp the bronze lobby. What Bob is doing is reffered to as smurfing

Have you had a game where a guy in the enemy team or your team is absolutely demolishing the lobby and singlehandedly carrying? Then that is most likely a smurf. It's important to note that not every player that's playing good is a smurf, maybe they're just having a good day. But you can usually tell whether someone is having simply a good day, or they're smurfing

The issue is smurfing in this game is currently very easy to do, there's nothing much preventing you from making a new steam account and creating a new account in rivals. I havent played overwatch in quite a while so im not sure if it's still the same, but back when i played. If you wanted to make a new account you need to connect the new account to a phone number, and then verify the phone number

In rivals there's nothing like that, so everyone is free to make a new account, start smurfing and beat up on low elo players. Referring to what i said at the start of this post, i didnt make this post because im a victim of smurfing. I just dont like smurfing and i think it's quite stupid, and it's made worse by how easy it is to do in rivals. Most people in high elo have atleast 1 smurf account, and it's not just your average competitive players that smurf, there are streamers that openly smurf on their stream as well
