Repurposing Mac Mini M2 as NAS?
Currently I have 2 devices:
- Mac mini m2 8gb
- MacBook Air m2 16gb
- Synology NAS DS215j
I am thinking about replacing Synology NAS because it’s old and it doesn’t have great functionalities (in comparison to the newest Synology devices). The problem is that NAS that interests me costs more than $500 (with Docker support). I am thinking about repurposing my Mac mini as NAS and having dock for MacBook Air on the desktop.
Does anyone have experience with using Mac mini as NAS/Home server?
I am especially interested in using dockerized apps for typical Synology NAS functionalities like Google Drive backup etc.
Any thoughts/tips/specific apps/experiences with using Mac mini as Nas are highly appreciated!
