Anyone else given up with 'Dead Giveaway'?

For the first times, I can't see the point in progressing with this event. Can't get any venDoom, killerVitus or Boil-mer without seemingly paying real money.

Last few events I've been using latinum, time bonuses, longer playing time & getting rewarded with higher placements, rewards etc.... But this time around I can't automate the last 2 simulations, & no matter what other simulations I upgrade with crew numbers etc, the required characters aren't forthcoming!

Other events have been difficult, but this seems downright impossible unless you want to part with cash!

Anyone else??
