Mark and Dans Top Ten Pubs of London 2024
So Myself and Dan are a couple of hospitality pros that set out a year ago to get around the many pubs that London has to offer...of course we appreciate when things are done nicely and the experience is a positive one.. so here we have our fav visits of the past year.
The Audley (Mayfair) Don't be put off by the fancy location..It's lovely, the service is excellent, the pub itself very handsome, drink selection very good with cask and keg available, food menu reads well. Also much enjoyment to be had looking at supercars rolling by whilst having a pint in the summer. (The toilets are fabulous)
The Derby (Oval) Proper old fashioned boozer, great pint of Guinness and either Harveys or Tribute on cask. Plenty of characters about and a good social spot, darts, snooker and football on the TV's, carpet on the floor..(prob not the radar so much but worth a visit)..(drunk chefs on Sunday)
The Harp (Covent Garden) Its an old favourite of many pub lists so prob not surprising, its old with loads of character and chatter, the beer is always a fantastic selection and well kept, inside quite cozy or you can drink out front with the people watching or out the back in the seedy alley.
4.The Devonshire (Soho) New pub and darling of the Evening Standard..hype aside its very good!, Service is on point, nice drink selection (the Guinness is v good here) the place has a real buzz about it, between the bar there is access to a VIP area which they often have musicians playing in. area out front is great for streetside drinking.
The Duke of Wellington (Belgravia). Its a Shepherd Neame pub so depends how you feel about their beer, the pub is tucked away on a corner in the poshest area in London, but when the sun is out it hits that corner nicely!. Cozy pub with a nice guvnor and amongst the trust fund kids a nice crowd and easy to strike up a conversation.
The Cutty Sark (Greenwich) Lovely old pub, cask available and decent food menu, excellent view of the Thames..and friendly service. ( we liked The Trafalgar too but this just edges it for us).
7.The Kenton (Hackney) We stumbled across this having been to a beer fest nearby...we we're glad we did, such a fun vibe to the place (norwegian influence) service on point and interesting beer selection (Paulaner Helles and Weisse and Kona Big Wave to name just a few)...cant wait to go back.
Nell Gwynn (Off The Strand) Another one we stumbled upon, tucked down an alley off the Strand. It's a tiny pub but loads of character, the jukebox is alot of fun!, staff v friendly.
The Sheephaven Bay (Mornington Crescent) People make places and the folks running this pub are brilliant, its got a great atmosphere and community feel. its regarded as being one of the best places for Guinness and we don't argue with that!. great for watching sport or just soaking up the atmosphere.
The Robin (Crouch Hill) Really enjoyed this spot, interesting beer selection and focus on very reasonable price point. Independent so no corporate tat anywhere, venue itself kinda basic but lovely big windows that open up, service v nice and seating out front for watching the world go by.
Honorable Mentions: The Jackalope (Marylebone) Fultering Fullback (Finsbury Park)
The Dolphin (Kings Cross) The Coach & Horses (Leyton)
The Cadogan Arms (Chelsea)
So there we go...2025 we aim to continue our quest and get around more parts of town..Cheers!
Any suggestions do fire them over!
