1/22 - Skit the Missing Beagle - Great Updates and Reminders
New Sightings: Skit was spotted on two separate cameras - one at the Liberty Church and one in the back of the Crystal Falls Rd neighborhood. The first was around 7-7:30pm and the other around 10:00pm on 1/21.
We believe he ate a plate of food I set out around 4:30pm in another area of the neighborhood; when the homeowner came home around 30 minutes to an hour later, the plate was completely empty. I had put dry food, wet food, and large dog biscuits on it. We can confirm that he ate the food set out at the camera where he was spotted around 10:00pm. He ate this in the homeowner's backyard, and we were so close to securing him in the backyard but didn't succeed. (He is a fast little guy!)
We also set up two warming stations/boxes with straw in the Crystal Falls area. Skit may choose to sleep during the day when it is warmer and move throughout the night. Most of his sightings have been in the morning or later at night.
The rescue team is hopeful that putting a trap out within the day or so. We have to make sure that he feels safe in the area, however. Please DO NOT CHASE OR CALL AFTER.
We believe Skit is, of course, hungry and cold. To keep his body temp up, he has to keep eating and keep moving. In fact, one redditor believes to have spotted him on Vendor Way near Meijers, which is not far from the Crystal Falls area. However, Skit appears to circle back to areas he is comfortable with.
As such, if you are moving about: KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND CALL IN A SIGHTING. This helps us track him.
If you live in the Shetlands or in the Crystal Falls Rd. area, please consider the following:
- Setting out some spare dog food/treats/scraps
- Leaving a blanket out on a front or back porch
- Cracking your garage door or leaving a gate open, if possible
- Checking cameras, even if you don't think it picked anything up - turn up the sensitivity!
Reward: $250, Skit returned home safe and sound
