Accessible things for my disabled gecko
Hello! I’m a relatively new member. My wife and I got a leopard gecko in November. Her name is Coconut and we call her Coco. We found out a local independent pet store had an 8 year old leopard gecko with special needs. Apparently the original owners cohabbed Coco with another gecko and also didn’t feed them right. The other one bullied her and got more of the food so she developed MBD. Then the owners abandoned them both at the pet store. She had been there for 2 years! My wife and I are both disabled and fell in love with her. The staff at the store were all so excited she was getting adopted.
Her habitat is still a work in progress but she’s curious and always starts exploring when we move things around. We have her on paper towels, probably permanently because her feet are pretty deformed and the vet said she might have trouble with substrate. Coco loves to climb but she’s really bad at it. She constantly trying to scale her hides and slipping off them. I don’t want her to get hurt. I was thinking of ways to make the hides more accessible by making a little step stool or something. Anyone have any ideas??? Thank you!
