Hospital wont give wife(me) any information
Update as some people were concerned: my husband was discharged from the hospital around midnight still in a state of confusion with a dead phone and nothing but a T-shirt and shorts. The ER claimed to the police he was “fine” and he was found in the care of a friend around 6 hours who found him wandering. His primary care doctors suspects it was a reaction to his SSRI and now I know what I need to do to help in future situations. Thank you 🙏
My husband had a medical emergency today where he was brought to the hospital via ambulance incapacitated. I was at home at the time with our child trying to secure child care and planned to meet him at the hospital.
I called our local hospital to verify it was the one that he was brought to(there is only two possible hospitals) and was told over the phone that even though I am his emergency contact and listed on his consent form, they can't confirm nor deny he was there. I then proceeded to ask, if the off chance he was there, would I be able to come up and they stated IF he had been brought in while in an incapacitated state, he wouldn't be able to consent so the answer would be no. I called the second hospital who confirmed, he was not brought in via ambulance.
I didn't try to physically go to the hospital yet but is there some sort of legal document we can fill out to prevent something like this happening in the future similar to like an advanced directive? I would like to prevent something like this from happening in the future if anything happened to either one of is.
