Fingerprints kept on record?

About a year ago, I (32f) was in an altercation where a neighbor attacked my ex, I thought he was going to kill him, so I was grabbing at the other guy and pulling his hair in order to try to get him off of him. Needless to say, the man pressed charges, I went to the county jail to be photographed and fingerprinted, went to my court date and the man never showed up. The judge dismissed the case. Now I am in college for forensic science, and I'm worried that my fingerprints being in the system will prevent me from getting a job in my field. Do they still keep the fingerprints if it was dismissed? Will it prevent me from getting a job? Do I need to talk to a lawyer about getting it removed from the system? I've never been in trouble with the law in any way before this, so I'm unsure of how to proceed. I'm not sure if this would even be the right sub for this. Thank you for your help.
