ever since water by tyla trended, better things by aespa blew up and newjeans became extremely prominent, we have lacked actually good bsides that are interesting.

a few examples i can think of are Kep1er. I have never found their albums boring to listen to, but their last comeback, tipi-tap, was hard to get through. the only song i found interesting was heart surf and thats solely because of the bridge and final chorus. STAYC. while Metamorphic was not like this, the GPT single was. GPT isnt a bad song, but its not interesting. Meant To Be wasnt great either. TWICE, my absolute ults. strategy had 2 or 3 interesting songs, and then theres the boring ones like sweetest obsession. I would also include YVES, but I think her music is actually what she likes personally(?)

I think I'm making the kind of music I'm talking about obvious. I'm not sure about what the genres actually are, but I know the one i dislike the most is the basic R&B. hate me all you want but sugarcoat by natty and loop by yves are easily some of the worst songs ive heard. theres nothing going on in them. also id like to add this is not all r&b, i like toxic by meovv kind of r&b.

why cant we have trends back like the brief retro sound in 2020? id even prefer the obnoxious tropical house that was popular throughout 2016-2017.

I remember pre-2023, everything had something interesting about it. nowadays its like youre hearing the same empty song every time someone has a comeback, even the boy group music grabs my attention a lot more.

and actually i wont even blame newjeans, their debut lead singles attention and hype boy were not boring. although cool with you definitely inspired this crap too.

I know like, everyone will disagree with me. but i have to say how i feel.
