Blocking polyester

I just completed a beautiful lacy scarf in a wine red. I love it. But I need to block it. I have four (4) blocking mats, but they are not long enough for the scarf, so I need an alternative.

My idea is to hang the scarf on a pants hanger and attach the ends using clothes clips to another pants hanger. Then I’ll steam the scarf. Will this work? Is there another alternative to flat blocking I can try? Could I fold the scarf on the blocking mats? I also have limited space to block, as I have very curious cats in the house.
