Engagement ring advice

Hey all, I'm in the market for an engagement ring and have been quoted ZAR 120,000 to 130,000 for a 1 carat natural diamond ring. Is this right? It seems like a lot.

Can anyone recommend any good jewellers?

Also, might I be better off buying a loose diamond then having the ring made? Where could I do this in Joburg?
