I've started withdrawing applications

I finally took a "be the change you want to see" mindset.

Jobs I got offered or contacted about, in no particular order.

  1. 3-6 month full time, temp to (possibly) hire contract..... no benefits offered. "You can get them independently through the Marketplace". File that under Is That Even Legal?

  2. Mid senior level role offering $19/hr. Identical positions are $30+ elsewhere

  3. Entry level requiring certification. Then it's not entry level anymore is it? Specimen processor and I'm an MLS. That's a HS diploma job.

  4. Employer contacting me through Indeed messaging. It was legit, I had applied there, but my email and phone number are on my CV. They also never identified themselves or their position.

  5. Lab manager with zero reading comprehension. It says "MLS" on my CV twice. Once under my name, once under Certifications. He asked if I was certified and if I was an MLS or MLT.

  6. One wanting to schedule an interview and then ghosting me for 5 days.

In all of those cases as soon as I heard the crazy shit or was shown the blatant lack of respect and professionalism, I said "Due to X, at this time I'm withdrawing my application".

The last one pushed back HARD. I said you know? A day or two, things happen. People get busy. 5? You're not interested and I'm not working for someone like this. I get to say no too and if I'm not being valued before the interview what can I expect after?

Am I going to singlehandedly change things? Probably not. But my time is valuable, I have worthwhile skills and experience. If I'm just not a fit for the position for whatever reason, fair enough.

But I'm not putting up with lowball wages, lack of benefits, and glaring unprofessional behavior. I get to say no too. They lost a good candidate.

And hopefully they'll continue to lose them until something changes.
