Thoughts on joining this fairly thick ring?
I am just starting out … in a class I managed to successfully solder this copper piece to sterling silver. The combined thickness is about 1.7mm … however I couldn't join the two halves. Even when hammered down with a nice snap when aligning the ends, I found the ring expanded and the joint separated. Due to the thickness it's quite challenging to do the "under over" technique to line the ends up. Anyone got some tips for how to join them up? Or is it just a matter of muscling through it?
