Winter Tires - Worth It?
I live in southern VT and just bought a new AWD SUV. Since I just got a new car, I'm considering finally moving to winter tires. I drive up most weekends to go skiing in central Vermont, and for almost all my life, I have been driving on all-season tires throughout the winter. I had one incident last season: I was driving up I-91 super late at night (unfortunately going much faster than I should have considering the amount of snow) during a large snowstorm passing a semi-trailer and skidded/slid off the highway. I was fine, the car was fine, got the car out pretty easily. Besides that, I've never really had any issues with my all-season tires, however, now I'm wondering if its worth it to go for a pair of winter tires. They seem really expensive, and I just don't know if it is worth it.
Thanks for any help
