Debating a whole home humidifier v water softener with humidifier stations.
I live in Salt Lake City and the humidity in my home is 15-25% in the winter. It’s brutal and it affects my asthma, lungs, etc.
Last year, I purchased 3 Costco humidifiers and would run them during the winter. Could easily get my house to 40-45%. But this past season, I noticed my whole home was covered in this white dust and our hvac filter and air purifiers were getting clogged every week. Took me forever to realize it was the hard water and the humidifiers causing all this.
Our water in our area is city water and insanely hard.
I’ve been looking at installing a whole home HVAC steam humidifier, but then realized it may be better for me to install a water softener so I can have the benefits from that for the whole house, and then just use that water in the humidifiers in the winter. Thoughts?
