How to remove this adhesive without damaging the drywall

I’m trying to find a way to remove the remaining adhesive from these stick-on “acoustic panels”. I’ve slowly been able to pick away at the adhesive but some is more adhered than the rest. Attempted a small patch of goo-gone but it only turned the adhesive to an oily slime that is even harder to remove. If need be I will attempt to detectors and repaint the wall, but hoping someone might have a miracle for this kind of situation m.
