Buying/starting amateur sports teams?

Keep in mind, I am asking this question from a position of absolutely no knowledge on this topic. But, I think it would be cool to buy a semi-pro/ amateur football team in Houston. How does one do this? Does anyone have experience in this subject? Can anyone point me in a direction!
