Between two fires is too complicated
I've completed about 76% of the story and currently in the Pope feast part. And honestly, it has started to feel like a burden to read.
This Is my first horror lit and from the beginning I loved it. It felt like reading historic fiction and loved the realism in some scenes. But I lost interest after Delphine supposedly "accepts" her "perception" after she runs away from Thomas after priests death.
There is also the thing about picturing certain scenarios like the angel fight. The sentences and the words were too complicated and I wasn't able to picture it properly despite re reading it multiple times ( though I got the "gist" of it. I'm still not sure if the angel died or the devil did). I think this is the major reason for why I'm thinking of dropping it.
Plus, the whole scenario of the comte sleeping with Thomas' wife also bugged me a lot. (Unrelated note - not comfortable with cheating or sex stuff in fiction or media).
How do you guys picture stuff while reading this and what tips would you give to complete it?
Or should I just drop it?
Thank you!
