What counts as a monstergirl?

What do you think qualifies as a monstergirl?

  • Spidergirls
  • Slimegirls
  • Catgirls
  • Elves
  • Dwarves
  • Vegan girls (kidding... or am I?)
  • Dragon-kin girls?
  • Werewolves
  • Vampires
  • Politicians (not kidding)
  • Demon girls/succubi
  • Wiccans
  • Witches

Yes, a couple are in there for humour and for definite false positives, but you get the idea.

What do you think of when you hear 'monstergirl'? Do you only count the really unusual, the traditionally horrific, the still horrific? Do you use it more broadly for anything that's not human or elven or other 'near human' species? If you like them at all, do you like a harem full of full on monstergirls, or a mix with a human, an elf, and one truly weird one?

If you actively dislike them, where do you draw the line? Too many legs? Too many limbs even if it's four arms and two legs? Tentacles? Tendency toward eating people?

If a catgirl isn't a monstergirl, what is she?

Updates based on comments:

Monstergirls so far:

Arachne - spider people
Lamia - snake people
Naga - snake people (do we distinguish much between the two?)
Slimegirls
Harpies
Dryads
Succubi
Gorgons
Ogres & trolls (not sure I've seen them as love interests yet or want to?)

Demi-humans:
(this does seem to be a common term for human-like species even though you'd think it'd mean half-elves and the like)

Elves, halflings, dwarves, gnomes,
Cat people
Lizard people
Orcs and goblins - probably demihuman but could go either way

Borderline:

Werewolves - could go either way/crossover
Vampires - similar to orcs, probably monsters if they sparkle? ;)
Mermaids - seem to eat a lot of people these days
