Thoughts on GBD200 after 2 weeks

Well, I think the honeymoon period is over, so I think I can give some honest thoughts on my new GBD200

First off, coming from a history of smart watches I was honestly a little disappointed at first. The display isn’t as bright and/or as visible as an Apple Watch for example and the “smart” features and app are like stepping back in time 15 years. Really, most the smart features are pretty useless and a joke compared to today’s tech. Even the settings interface on the watch its self is like a blackberry or something from 20 years ago.

The display is gorgeous. A little dim. And for someone who works in dimly lit areas most the time the negative display can be a little hard to read sometimes. I wish I could turn the brightness or contrast up just one level. In sunlight or a bright room it’s amazing though. And the backlight is great as well. (Wish the auto-light could be on all the time, but I understand what a battery drain that would be)

The good- I love what I get on the main screen. Large clear time, day, date are all easy to read. Everything I wanna know in a glance. And steps is just a bonus.

The vibration function is AWESOME. I LOVE it. It was one of those things I really missed after leaving Apple Watches. It’s so easy to know when a timer or alarm is going off. Finally an alarm on a G shock that I actually know when it’s going off!

The buttons are so easy to push, even with heavy work gloves on.

And the strap, shape and weight of it are great. One of the main reasons I keep grabbing it is how damn comfortable it is. It’s probably my most comfortable watch to wear! I wish all G-Shock straps were made of this material.

I don’t regret the purchase at all. I love the watch. Is it perfect? No. (Solar would be nice) but if you know you aren’t “really” getting a smart watch, I think anyone would be really happy with it.

I kinda really want another GBD200 in a second color now, but I already feel bad for all my other watches that haven’t gotten any wrist time since I got this.
