How did you find or attract your boyfriend/significant other in real-life?

For those of you who have a boyfriend or another male significant other, how did you find that person and manage to development a romantic relationship with them outside the context of social media or dating apps like Tinder or Grindr? The only reason I'm excluding those is that whenever I ask gay guys I know in real life, "How do I find somebody to date me," they say, go on Tinder/Grindr, but I've tried it and it's not my scene. Obviously, like most young queer guys, I have no experience with dating, flirting, or anything whatsoever, so I just wanna hear some success stories? How'd you do it? Obviously men attracted to men are a pretty substantial minority, so how do you find love without online dating?
