What game best encapsulates “mindless fun”?

I feel like gaming at its peak is when you can turn off your critic personality and just get lost in primal joy. no worries about graphics, story writing, gameplay mechanics, just let loose and have an absolute blast with yourself.

My pick for this, and the inspiration for the post, is Dead Rising 2. I haven’t played 3 or 4, but I played this when i was younger and just recently revisited it because of a sale, and I don’t regret it at all. This game is everything gaming and culture in the 2000s encapsulated, zombies, generically hot female characters, set in Las Vegas, put together a broom and a chainsaw or nails and a bat and swing it at crowds of enemies. It annoyed me for a split second that the missions are timed and then I forgot all about it because I realized I can run around the strip with my RC Helicopter & claymore sword and just mow down waves of zombies dressed in daisy dukes & and a blanka mask. you could load a 3 year old or a 80 year old into this game and they would have a good time, and I think those games are the best. the leveling system, the gameplay mechanics, even the difficulty are all very simple but not boring, it’s such a perfectly tight game that doesnt take itself one bit seriously. anybody got a better one than that?
