Symptoms and HIDA scan

Hey all,

I originally had a HIDA scan scheduled this week after a month-long attack of pain and nausea. At the start of January, I experienced sudden extreme abdominal pain and pain in my right shoulder. Within an hour of experiencing the pain, I was vomiting. I spent 13 hours in the ER, did an ultrasound, labs, and MRCP scan. They found nothing other than slightly elevated bilirubin levels. I met with a general surgeon the next day and he was not convinced it was my gallbladder based on imaging and blood work. He suggested a HIDA scan but also referred me to a GI specialist. I felt pretty good for a few days after that. For two days I hardly felt nauseous and the horrible burning and stabbing pain in my abdomen went away.

Then I ate a grilled cheese and some soup. It came back with a vengeance almost immediately after eating one evening. Previously to this, there was not a direct correlation between eating and the pain. I met with a GI specialist who suggested a CT scan, a stool test, and more blood work. Everything has turned up negative. This was after a month of pain and nausea every day. I lost a total of 10 pounds in January.I was scheduled to have a HIDA scan but then had a stomach bug (unrelated, caught it from one of the kiddos) over the weekend with a fever and cancelled my scan. Now, after the stomach bug has passed, I was feeling really good again. My appetite was back and my BMs were back to normal. Two days have passed and now I'm back to some light nausea, constipation, and dull abdominal pain. A new symptom that's concerning me is itchiness on my abdomen near the gallbladder? It's like there's bugs crawling in my skin and I cannot stop itching. I have messaged my provider updating her about this all as well.

My question for you fine folks is if anyone has experienced itching like this?

Would you reschedule the HIDA scan based on my symptoms? Are there any alternatives to a HIDA scan? For some reason I'm very anxious about the scan. I hate needles, and I'm mentally and physically exhausted after a months worth of tests and appointments.

I have contacted my provider as well but am curious about anecdotal experiences and opinions.
