Shadow of the Erdtree vs DS Trilogy

Hey Reddit. I’m just an older brother here to ask you about which game is better, Dark Souls 123 or SotE. It’s my cousin’s birthday next week and he’s absolutely having a blast with Bloodborne and that ninja game made by the same company. He recently bought Elden ring and absolutely got addicted to it. It’s dlc SotE and DS3 trilogy on Amazon costs about the same. I think I should buy the trilogy because it comes with three games and their DLCs apparently, But I’ve also heard some of my friends talk about SotE being peak gaming. So which one should I buy? I got no knowledge of this genre, I’m more into fps, so can anyone help me out?

Edit: Ok this is getting way too chaotic so I did some quick googling and here’s what I found - So elden ring plus it’s dlc will take about 30 hours to complete while all three games and dlc combined provides around 36 or so hours. -There are a total of 268 bosses in ER alone and 34 major boss in the DLC (holy shit). Only 92 in the trilogy.

These stats are making DLC look good to some extent, but I still need the opinion of those who have tasted both sides.
