DS2 DLCs worth playing to someone who strongly dislikes the base game?

Hello everyone,

I would consider myself a veteran of the series: I bought Demon's Souls on release in 2009 for the PS3 and have since 100 percented Dark Souls 1 and 3 and played through Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring several times. I bought the OG (not scholar of the first sin) DS2 on release and hated it, but have heard in the years since that the DLCs for the Scholar of the First Sin edition are spectacular, so I bought it on steam.

I have since been trying to get through the game as a basic knight class (I've leveled my adaptability to 94) and am, to put it bluntly, not having fun with the game again. I'm currently at the rune sentinels and am feeling a lack of motivation to continue, so I wanted to ask if there was anyone else in the sub who may have had the same feelings as myself about the base game, but absolutely loved the DLCs.

Basically I'm wondering whether toughing it out to the DLCs will be worth it for me, given my feeling on the base game.

Thanks so much!
