Ebt hacked twice in 2 month period

In October, the grocery store that I work at experienced a cyber attack (which we were never informed about btw, I had to find out on the subreddit for the grocery chain, they just told us that the systems were down for a few days) I had used my ebt at the store in late October and the very next day all my benefits were used up in various states across the country. I assumed that my info got hacked in the cyber attack. There are no self checkouts in my store, so I don’t think there’d be any possible way for someone to install a skimming device. I got a replacement card and my benefits reimbursed, and I used a different pin. Last week I used my new card at that store again, assuming that they had solved the issue since the systems are running again. Well, now my benefits have been used up again. My state doesn’t have the ebtedge app and I can’t lock my card or anything, so it’s a pain to deal with.

I requested another replacement card and reported mine stolen. At this point I don’t even want reimbursement as my benefits are supposed to come next week and I have enough to get me by until then. I’m just fed up with these hackers. My SSN and other sensitive info have already been leaked in data breaches, now I can’t even buy food. I know it may have been foolish of me to shop at the store, but you’d think that if it was still vulnerable to hackers they wouldn’t allow card transactions? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again other than not shopping at my store anymore?
