Mad Catz Ego and Xbox Series X Not Working

Purchased a Ego Fightstick for my son and can't for the life of me get the Xbox Series X to recognize it. I've tried both Xbox One and Xbox Series X controllers connected multiple times.

I went on Mad Catz website to get firmware update, ran it as Admisitrator, and that gives message that it failed. Has anyone been able to get theirs to work? I know it's basically the same as the GameSir C2 (which I bought to test out this week). Do I have to just break down and buy a Brook Converter or is there something I'm missing?
