Ditched Plated Prisoner and Started Anathema and OH MY GOD

Yesterday I started Plated Prisoner and got to ch 3 before DNFing. I posted my notes here on a silly whim and the feedback was a lot of fun.

And as much as I want to read the book out of spite and to continue to post those notes. I care about my mental well being so I switched to another book last night rec’ed here.

OH MY GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

From what I’ve seen so far: It is gothic, scary (for me), dark, and a shit ton of thought went into the world building (like there’s a slightly intimidating glossary in the front).

It’s giving me vibes like if The Village and Handmaidens Tale had a baby?

In a shameless bid to get more people to read this so I have someone to talk to, I’m posting my notes but this time because I LIKE the book.

I want to put a big ole loud TRIGGER WARNING: this book literally opened with a child sacrifice and I really struggled to read that specific opening scene. But it’s also what kinda sparked my interest 😭😬
