Something tells me church leadership is yearning for the good old days right now. You know - the “burn down the printing press to keep bad but true news from getting out” kind of days.

The church has completely lost control of its narrative. Sure there are some people who will always live in the bubble the church tries to create, but this steady stream of news is cutting deeper into core TBMs than anything I’ve ever seen.

I recently overheard my own ultra-TBM sister asking her husband his thoughts on the SEC investigation. He was downplaying it in typical TBM fashion but I was just happy to know she was aware of it and clearly reading an article that was critical of it.

The church’s old playbook of suppress bad news at all costs and then gaslight and/or play the persecution card already wasn’t working as effectively anymore. And that was before this past month of insanely bad news practically every few days!

Sorry (not sorry) church leaders, you can’t burn down printing presses anymore and your messaging isn’t keeping everyone in an information cocoon either. Your corruption and deception are on full display and more and more people are seeing you for what you are - false and rotten to the core!
