DYSON VACUUM MOTÖRHEAD WHEELS BREAKING
I’ve been wondering why Dyson hasn’t improved the design of their vacuum wheels. I handle Dyson vacuums daily—around 500 have passed through my hands—and almost half of them have issues with wheels breaking off. This problem has persisted since the release of the Dyson V8.
Interestingly, the V8 wheels seem to be more durable than those on models released afterward. Some wheels last a month, some six months, and if you’re lucky, over a year. While Dyson does offer warranties, not every owner has one, and replacing a broken wheel means spending $100-$140 on a new brush head. That’s a hefty cost for something that seems like a design flaw.
This issue has been ongoing for 8-10 years, making it feel like the design is intentional to drive up post-purchase costs. For vacuums priced at $600-$900, it’s unreasonable to expect customers to keep paying for replacements. I doubt this will ever be fixed, but it’s disappointing that such a long-standing issue hasn’t been addressed.
