Dashers Beware! Scammed By Customer!

Hello all, this literally just happened to me today at around 10 am today. I was in the middle of my dash when I just accepted an offer of around $3.50 from Taco Bell for a customer named Madison P. On my way to the store, I suddenly got a phone call. Thinking it was the customer wanting to clarify something, I answered it. The person calling informed me that they were Door Dash support and that the order I had just accepted was suspected of being made with a stolen credit card.

The rep apologized for the inconvenience and said that I would be unassigned the order and compensated $6.50 for the cancelation. They then said they needed to confirm my identity so they asked for the phone number linked with the account. I did so and then they said they needed me to fill out a form so that they could document the issue. They sent a link via text and it seemed like a Door Dash website that you had to sign into to get the form.

I attempted to sign in, but the site only kept reloading. I told the agent this, and they said they would fill the form out for me, but they just needed to confirm my ownership since I couldn't do it manually myself. So I was sent codes through text. You know, those texts that say "Never share this code with anyone" ? Yeah, my dumbass did exactly that because they insisted that the line was being recorded for security.

I know, there were multiple red flags and I ignored all of them thinking I was doing the right thing and getting a bit extra for my efforts. In the end, this fake representative told me to stay on the line while they confirm the codes I just handed over. They ended up hanging up the call and when I checked my Dasher Direct account, they had Cardless Withdrawn from my account and stole 400 dollars.

I've already talked with the real Dasher Support and my local Police department, but I'm sure not much will be able to be done about this. I worked hard for that money to pay my upcoming rent and now it's all gone.

I'm not asking for pity or sympathy. Hell , I'm sure most of you are thinking I'm an idiot and I would fully agree. I just wanted to try and do the right thing and get a little extra back for my efforts. I was trying to get back to dashing so I could make up the rest of my rent payment and fully ignored all of the flags that were thrown at me. I just wanted everyone to be aware of this type of scam. NEVER SHARE THE CODES NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS!

TL:DR Customer acted like Dasher Support, I told them my info, they hacked my Dasher Direct and lost 400 dollars

EDIT: Look y'all, I know it was a low offer, but I always accept offers if I'm at least getting a dollar per mile. When I accepted it, it said it was only a 2 mile trip since I was already a half mile away from the Taco Bell.

EDIT #2: Meant to post this earlier, but Door Dash was able to get me back all the money that I lost. I didn't even realize that they had gotten it back to me until I had looked at my Dasher Direct app out of the blue. It took close to two months before they refunded me the money. So if this happens to you, there is still hope!

Also, had some people if I ever got my account back. I caught it quick enough to where they hadn't changed any of my personal info and only taken the money out of the account. I quickly changed my password, so any devices that had been previously logged in would have to attempt to login again to gain access.

Not sure what the steps are to get control of your account back, but just work with Dasher support as much as possible, and they should be able to get you back your account (hopefully).
