Predator Prof on the Campus: Ramjas College DU students demand justice
***** The professor has been suspended and the said matter is now referred to Internal Complaints Committee*****
As a student of Ramjas College, I feel compelled to shed light on a deeply troubling issue involving Mr. Dhaniram, a professor in the Commerce Department and the Joint Dean for Student Welfare at Delhi University. This professor has been accused of s*xually harassing a junior from our department, and this time, his behavior has crossed all limits.
The professor allegedly stalked the student, made inappropriate comments by asking about her size, harassed her in an elevator, attempted to k*ss her without consent, and threatened her with internal marks. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Mr. Dhaniram has a history of such behavior, with multiple students—both male and female—coming forward with similar allegations.
He has created a highly uncomfortable environment in his classes by constantly talking about s*x and intimat* relationships, completely disregarding professional boundaries. In one of my personal encounters with him, he asked me and my female friend inappropriate questions about mast*rb*ation and even advised us that “s*x is better than mast*rb*tion.” It was humiliating and deeply disturbing.
He also preys on female students by pretending to help them prepare for competitive exams like UPSC, despite his lack of expertise in the subject. His manipulative and predatory behavior has made many students feel unsafe on campus.
This time, however, a courageous junior has filed a formal complaint against him. We stand with her and demand that the college and university administration take strict action against Mr. Dhaniram. Despite his influential position as the Joint Dean for Student Welfare, his actions must not be ignored. This is not just about one professor but about addressing the culture of harassment that exists in academic institutions. Students deserve a safe and respectful learning environment, and we will not stop until decisive action is taken to ensure this.
