Sometimes you just nail it

Like all of us, I am really hard on myself. Every mistake, every slip up I always chide myself. Today however I nailed it. I got home after my wife and kids, and my oldest was in tears. After hearing a little circular discussion between my wife and kid and I sat down with my oldest to see what happened.

At school today two of her friends got a hold of her volleyball and drew all over it with a marker. She was upset and never wanted to bring George (the volleyball) to school anymore so he doesn’t get drawn on any more. We talked a little helped her realize her friends meant no harm (they drew hearts and cute smiley faces on George as well as a few of the cool S’s) we looked up how to clean it, I got my isopropyl alcohol out (for mine painting and 3-d printing) and we sat down together and gave George a good bath with the understanding she is going to take George back to school and talk to her friends about boundaries and how her feelings were hurt.

By the end my daughter was happy as a clam and ready to talk to her friends. I nailed it my dad bros. Have a beer in my honor if you can.
