About Karate tournaments: how close is CK to real life?
I know it’s going to be very much heightened in the show compared to real life, but I’d like some clarification on the extent.
So: - I imagine the standard three-points to a victory is how it normally works, and I think rounds are normally much shorter in real life compared to the drawn-out TV versions. Correct? - I think the show uses a lot of different martial arts styles, particularly Taekwondo with the flashy kicks and jumps. Would that sort of thing be allowable in a karate tournament - techniques that clearly don’t come from Karate? Could you technically win a tournament using, like, western boxing, if you landed the hits? - So Kreese and Silver trained with Kim Sun Yang in Korea, and his Dojang takes on the Cobra Kai name in S6. Presumably that would be an out-and-out TKD dojo, just competing in a Karate competition. Is that remotely plausible? Or am I wrong, and Karate dojangs are something that exists meaningfully in Korea?
Thanks in advance. Might edit this with further questions if I think of them!
