made it to the stilt, now what?

I don't really understand what i would want to buy here. I've got a carapace, and a bunch of axes.
the axes make things die pretty well?
basically i'm a ball of arms with a shell and a follower and it's my first time surviving out of joppa.
Theres a ton of merchants but they mostly seem to have..crap? do you just random roll every time you buy a relic, or am I missing some way to examine things in merchants inventories? What do I even want to buy??
