Keigo Higashino is definitely one of the best authors of detective fiction in 21st century or maybe ever.
Keigo Higashino is a Japanese novelist and although I think he is pretty big in Japan, he's yet to find widespread acclaim elsewhere. According to Goodreads, only 7-8 of his works have been translated to English and the above claim is based on those few novels. If you like Agatha Christie and the golden age detective fiction, you should definitely check out his novels. He reminds me so much of Christie. Not to demote Christie, He is kind of like the better, refined, more entertaining, an "updated" version of her.
His novels are more akin to the later Christie novels, when she started to focus more on "why" rather than just whodunit. However, in her case those novels while having interesting ideas suffered from pacing issues, and its heavy reliance on clunky dialog and exposition sometimes made it a bore.
Those issues, I feel are taken care of here.
That's it, I've rambled on long enough. Even if you find Agatha Christie boring but are interested in detective, you should definitely check out his novels.
I'd recommend "Devotion of Suspect X" as a great starting point as it was his first English translated novel to get some recognition and is one of the very best in the genre.
