Purple book cloth?

Hello all! Im rebinding my brother's book as a gift (dont know why I started with a gift instead of practicing with my own book but oh well). I used purple paper for the case and it turned out great, but I had some issues with the gold i picked out that it wasnt sticking to the transfer paper. I ended up having to switch to a gold I didn't like as much for ease of transferring (and redesign the entire cover so I could pick it better?), and when I sat back and looked at the finished case (pictured), I absolutely hated it. The gold looks like mustard, the design is opposite what I want (I'd rather have gold crowns over a purple background, not purple crowns), and the sticker doesnt lay flat or straight. Next step is going to be restarting and using book cloth instead of paper so I can use heat transfer vinyl, but it's so hard to find purple book cloth that is a) big enough or b) purple enough, if that makes sense. I want a really royal purple.

All that being said, my biggest question is: when it comes to getting purple book cloth, would you recommend making book cloth from scratch (buying regular cloth, adding heat & bond), or somehow dyeing a white book cloth I have purple?

Also, any tips for cutting out/weeding? I'm borrowing my mom's silhouette, and it seems like she always has these problems with weeding/transferring that no one else has.
