Newbies - Avoid English!

EDIT - A few of you are focused on my use of the word English, perhaps I should have used Sidespin instead..

Hi everyone! I see and hear all kinds of bad advice during league night. Man, a lot of people think English is the solution to so many shots when in actuality it will mess you up if not used correctly. My advice avoid it for at least a year then you will have the experience to know how where your cue ball will go without it. Armed with this experience, you can slowly add it to your game.

With this said, it's important to note that top and bottom is NOT english; English is side-spin and will introduce squirt and throw into every shot, making the cue ball NOT go where you aimed!

It's amazing what you can achieve with only top, bottom and speed control. For a few years I only used those in my game. It helped me clearly understand what is going to happen without english and is the basis for when I do use english...

Anyhow, just some thoughts for fellow players out there. Your mileage may vary, but too much knowledge is not a bad thing. 😀

Be a good sport, help others and shoot slow with purpose.

PS - I'm in my 2nd session in APA and went from a 3 to a 7 in 8 ball in my first session. However, I did not stay a seven 😞 Man, there are some good shooters out there, haha.
