Are my bettas ok?
I’ve been observing my bettas every day and have had these little guys for slightly over a month now. They seem happy and active in their individual tanks, but I noticed some things about them on the day I brought three of them home, and I’m not sure if they’re causes for concern.
• The dumbo: A chunk of his left fin seems to be missing. Will it grow back? Is it permanent?
• The orange plakat: He has an unusual bumpy stomach. I’ve tried cutting down on his diet. But everything’s the same till now.
• The (mostly) black plakat: His left gill has never fully closed. But he’s still able to flare up beautifully when he sees the other fishes.
They still look the same today. No changes to their conditions—but I want to make sure they’re not in pain or if these issues could affect their quality of life.
Also, I’d love to learn more about the specific breeds, types, and patterns of my bettas! I know one is a dumbo and the other two are plakats, but I’m curious about their exact finnage, tail types, patterns, and color classifications. Any insight and advice (if specific breeds need specific needs) would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance for any advice or guidance!
