betta temporary tank

i currently have my betta in a 5.5gal that i transport back and forth with me since im a college student. i was wondering if it would be possible to keep my betta in one of those smaller plastic containers (not like the cups they sell bettas in, like the plastic rectangle ones) for when i go home for shorter breaks (7-10 days) rather than moving the whole tank? moving the tank is always a mess, damages my live plants, and im worried it will crash the cycle. can a temp container be a solution or will that just stress her out?
