Arthritis Suggestions
Our 4.5 yo female Berner has pretty bad arthritis in one of her back knees. The vet thinks it's from an old ACL injury that was not tended to as she was in a puppy mill. She is now on Carprofen 2x day, Gabapentin as needed, and she is receiving Adequan shots twice weekly-we have one more week of 2x weekly.
I thought she was improving, but I took her for a short walk yesterday, and she was really limping as we approached home. This walk was shorter than our usual "short" walks.
Has anyone dealt with arthritis in their younger dog? Did Adequan help? We go back to the vet today, so of course I will bring up her issues from the walk, but I'm looking for any other suggestions. Prior to her x-ray and confirmation of arthritis, I had her on Dasuquin, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
I feel sorry for her because she LOVES to walk, and I can tell she hurts, but she will walk anyway. Today she is resting and has had a gabapentin.
