[Recommendation B2] Encrypt backup? Use 3rd party aoftware?
EDIT: Sorry for the typo in the headline :-(
I'm thinking about setting up a new backup project. It would consist of a little server that collects my data (some from GDrive, some offline), partially sensitive (it could contain personal IDs info, family pics and videos or financial data), an upload it to a bucket in BlackBlaze B2 as a 3rd backup and off-site.
My doubts are:
- Would BackBlaze B2 server side encryption be enough security of the data? I suppose it's as safe as Google Drive or Onedrive in paper, as both use SSE, but I don't know if it would be more recommended put encryption before uploading or just a PITA.
- I was planning of using Duplicacy to make the incremental backup with a rule of "mantain data up to X days/weeks". But I see BackBlaze buckets already have a life cycle function and you have the ability to configure "save previous versions of files up to X days", and I suppose it includes versions of files deleted. In this case, I could save using Duplicacy, and just make a RClone sync to BackBlaze B2, being BackBlaze reponsible of detecting files modifications or deletions and keeping the versions the time I say, functionally working like a backup with versioning, is it right?
Any tips and recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
