Politics - What is going on?
So, although this is somewhat political. I mainly want to know what people are really wanting out of government. Federal government mainly.
I vote for one side, however am becoming a little unhappy and I'd never vote for the otherside.
I am so confused as to why politicians aren't doing what we need, rather they just tinkle around the edges. What would get your vote? What do you want to see?
What I want to see..
Huge investments in housing. I own a home, but I know so many who can't find rentals or afford a house. Cut the negative gearing. If people want to get rich off homes, let them do it with their own money. This could be, also the LNP once said 'good debt'. Rent out the houses for several years and then on sell. Making sure new housing is built to replace the sold homes. Maintaining a good level of stock. This would allow rental income to pay back a good think of the funds used.
Pick an energy pathway. Im sick of seeing this go backwards and forwards. Just get it sorted. Political parties look like kids fighting over their favourite colours.
Department of Housing, Energy and Food Security. To make sure Australia maintains sufficient housing, food and power. Could add water to this too.
Healthcare (medicines) why can't we focus on being self reliant.
Tax the rich.. and tax the miners. I think many people get confused that resources are owned by the people.. not the rich. Why are we allowing Gina and Forrest and Clive become more and more wealthy?? These minerals are ours.. not theirs. Once sold, we get no benefit. However the billionaires get many benefits. Do they really need billions? What on earth do they intend to do with it?
Fix religion. We tax it, or we expect community outcomes from them if they are not taxed. They can't make money and not provide community assistance. Would it hurt them to help some homeless? I appreciate some arw doing what they can, but you guys know who I'm aiming this at.
Scrap business investment in politics. This might be an unpopular opinion. But no donations from business and a max of $5k from an individual per year. Max 10 people per electorate with a government subsidy of $15,000. Everyone on an even footing.
Government terms to 4 years. 3 years are not sufficient and governments worry too much, meaning hardly any real policy is actioned.
Probably more, but I won't bore you all.
What would get your vote? Any of the above...or something else?
