Aversions to wearing hair certain ways.

I’m a 20 year old aspergirl. Recently I got my hair cut short for it to be slightly more manageable for me. However, I’ve had aversions in more recent years to wearing my hair down, as it feels very odd to me, and I hate having hair in my face. I also don’t like having to put hair products in my hair as they feel almost gunky. Despite this, I like my new hair style and would like to get used to wearing my hair down and have it so it looks and feels good again to me, without touching on the sensory triggers I have about wearing it down.

I also have very thick hair, that frizzes up easily that sometimes adds to my aversion about wearing my hair down.

So my question is, have any of you experienced a sensory issue/ aversion with this? How did you overcome it?
Similarly, what, if any, hair products did you use to style your hair and help you feel comfortable?
