What's the point of buying an expensive car if it's just going to get abused?

Normal Joe Schmo here, good driver, never been in a car accident that's my fault, clean record. What's the point of buying an expensive car if it's just going to get abused?

Even if you're clean and good, that doesn't mean other people are. Go grocery shopping, someone dings your door. Go to the mall, someone tries to break in. Go out to eat, someone scuffs your side mirror. List goes on and on. Hit and run here hit and run there. Regardless if your car is cheap or expensive, it's just going to get abused by others. Why go through the financial heartache of having an expensive object and worry about it?
