[SFO] Concierge Key Perks

Does anyone know if you can bypass bag check lines by checking your bag at a ticketing counter? During Holiday travel, we waited in the priority line for an hour just to check a bag. Almost missed the flight. The gate agent told us we should have checked it at the ticket counter as a CK courtesy. Just wondered if this is true. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
