First antenna in the hedge or the attic?

Hello,

I'm looking on how to setup my first antenna and get my feet wet. Unfortunately, I don't have trees I could hang a dipole antenna on. I have a hedge though. Can I hide the antenna in the hedge? That would be for the HF 20m band. Otherwise, I would need to opt for an attic dipole antenna. Which one do you think I should try? I know that both ideas are far from perfect, but you need to start somewhere... Also, there is metal mesh fence and a powerline nearby. The tuning would change when the hedge is wet I guess.
